बाल विकास और शिक्षणशास्त्र के लिए सीटीईटी पाठ्यक्रम निम्नलिखित बिंदुओं पर आधारित है:

1. शिशु एवं बाल विकास: शिशु एवं बाल विकास के सिद्धांत, शिशु के विभिन्न विकासांश, गर्भावस्था, शिशु की प्राकृतिक विकास प्रक्रिया, शिशु की जिज्ञासा एवं शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में उसका महत्व।
2. प्रासंगिक विकास: प्रासंगिक विकास के सिद्धांत, भाषा विकास, मनोवैज्ञानिक विकास, सामाजिक एवं आचारिक विकास, शिक्षा में समावेशीकरण के लिए समर्पित प्रणालियाँ।
3. शिक्षाशास्त्रीय विचारधारा: शिक्षाशास्त्रीय विचारधारा के नीति, शिक्षा के उद्देश्य, शिक्षा का मानवीय मूल्य, विद्यार्थी केंद्रित शिक्षण, व्यक्तिगतीकरण एवं उच्चतर स्तरीय विचारधारा।
4. शिक्षण-संगठन: शिक्षण-संगठन के सिद्धांत, विभिन्न शिक्षण विधियाँ, प्रावृत्ति, समय-सारणी, शिक्षण की सामग्री का आयोजन, शिक्षण-संसाधनों का उपयोग एवं शिक्षक द्वारा स्वीकार्य आचरण एवं शृंखलाबद्धता।
5. शिक्षक एवं शिक्षण प्रक्रिया: शिक्षक की भूमिका, शिक्षण प्रक्रिया, व्यक्तिगतीकृत शिक्षण, सहभागितापूर्ण शिक्षण, शिक्षण के आधारभूत सिद्धांत, विभिन्न समूहों के साथ शिक्षण, शिक्षण के लिए व्यापक उपाध्याय कौशल एवं अवसर।
